Parental Alienation Expert

Shawn Wygant is a skilled, dedicated, resourceful, and creative forensic psychology associate who shares his expertise in courts across the United States. Committed to ensuring children and parents retain healthy relationships even in the face of a high-conflict custody battle, Shawn conducts and reports on: thorough psychological assessments; the nature of parent/child relationships in high-conflict custody cases; assessments of abuse and neglect accusations; child custody arrangements and parental alienation.

Trained in classical piano and orchestral percussion from an early age by his musician parents, Shawn began his professional life focused on music – composing, performing, teaching and sales. He chose to change tracks, however, and pursue a career in forensic psychology after enduring his own high-conflict custody case. Determined to help others avoid the injustice of his experience, today, Shawn is dedicated to the just use of civil and criminal procedures to promote, protect and preserve the rights of families embroiled in a high-conflict family drama.

While the bulk of Shawn’s work is with forensic assessments, he is also skilled in family therapy and specializes in family reunification interventions. Through these processes, Shawn is able to help families identify the barriers to their relationships and to repair any psychological harm so that children have healthy relationships with both of their parents.

Although a scientist and an academic, Shawn does not allow professional jargon to get in the way of providing families, courts, and other decision-makers with intelligible, clear assessments. He works to see that all can understand the complex legal and mental health issues involved with a particular family or set of high conflict family drama allegations.

Shawn holds Masters degrees in clinical psychology and forensic psychology and is on track to complete his Ph.D. Clinical Psychology program by the Spring of 2024. Shawn works as a limited licensed psychologist under the supervision of noted scholar, attorney, and forensic psychologist Demosthenes Lorandos.

Shawn lives in Oscoda, Michigan, with his fiancé Theresa where he enjoys motocross, Tai Chi, cycling, accompanying and directing his church choir, and composing music for piano and orchestra.
